Some countries around the world are offering free tuition to international students in 2024. In particular, some universities have relatively low tuition fees and offer various scholarships.
Some countries believe that education should not be dependent on money. Notable among such countries are Germany, Norway, Finland, Austria and Iceland.
- Germany
There are no tuition fees for international students at public universities in Germany. Only an administrative fee (around 100-200 EUR) is payable. DAAD provides financial aid to more than 120,000 students each year. - Norway
Students at state-run universities in Norway do not have to pay tuition fees. However, a semester fee (NOK 300-600) is payable, which applies to various benefits. - Finland
In Finland, free education is offered at doctoral level for students from EU countries. However, a minimum tuition fee of €1,500 per year is charged for non-EU students. - Austria
Free tuition in the first two semesters for EU/EEA students in Austria. Thereafter a fee of €363.36 per semester is payable. Fees for third country students are slightly higher (around €726.72). - Iceland
Public universities in Iceland do not have tuition fees, but a non-refundable application fee (which is around 250 to 650 euros) is required. Tuition fees at private universities are relatively low, around £4,500 to £8,000.
These countries are creating new opportunities for students and reducing the financial burden of their education.
